Statement | 2020 Mortlock Shield Carnival

22 March 2020

The Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield Interleague Committee met Sunday morning 22nd March to discuss the future of the Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield.

Following advice and recommendations from SANFL, The Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield has been cancelled for season 2020.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our 5 Leagues involved and Sponsors for understanding and accepting our situation.

We take this opportunity to especially thank the branches of the Bendigo Bank in Port Lincoln, Cummins and Tumby Bay for their continued support

We are well aware of the impact that this will have on our local community, but the health and well being of our players / training staff and supporters is our foremost concern.

Many of our Leagues will not be starting their own competition till after the June Long Weekend, thus making it extremely difficult to select a representative side when no games have been played.

We look forward to having extra time to organize The Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield for 2021 and working with our sponsors and affiliated leagues in producing a great Bendigo Bank Mortlock Shield for 2021
